Things Nursing Students Don’t Say

Ah, nursing school. Most of us try not to remember many of our nursing school experiences. All of those multiple choice tests, where every answer was correct, made you wonder if your instructors were plotting against your success. Your first lie ever told to a patient occurred when she asked you if it was your first time starting an IV. At 3 a.m., while you were studying for that dreaded Pharmacology test, you began to regret skipping those naps in kindergarten class. Reminding ourselves of those seemingly endless years comes with an overwhelming sense of stress and even heartache.

If you’re a graduate nurse, congratulations on making it through one of the hardest and most emotionally challenging times in your life! If you are still in nursing school, you can do it! Either way, I know you all can relate to this video.

Students and faculty of the University of New Mexico’s School of Nursing put together a video entitled ‘Things Nursing Students Don’t Say,’ to entertain nursing students and nurses alike. In the video, students act out several scenarios, which remind us of those memorable nursing school moments.

The students remind us to keep our sense of humor (which can be difficult at times). It’s perfectly acceptable to laugh; We’ve all been there before. We, nurses, need a little laughter in our lives. So, put those books away, start up the coffee pot, sit back and enjoy a few moments of lighthearted entertainment. And, as always, be encouraged and stay positive!
